The Founder of She's Happy Hair

She’s Happy Hair was built on service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to people.

Founded in 2012 by Warren Broadnax and his co-founder, She’s Happy Hair began with $900 and the trunk of a car. Warren drove from salon to salon across Houston, building relationships with stylists one conversation at a time. What started as a necessity became a purpose-driven brand rooted in trust, consistency, and care.

Before entering entrepreneurship, Warren served as a U.S. Navy veteran and later as a Houston Firefighter — experiences that shaped his leadership philosophy and people-first approach to business.

As Warren shared in a profile with Defender Network:

“I serve my employees, my employees serve our customers.”

That belief became foundational to how She’s Happy Hair operates — from how team members are trained and developed, to how customers are treated in-store and online.

Seeing widespread inconsistency and broken trust in the hair industry, Warren committed to building a brand with one non-negotiable standard: The quality would never change.

That commitment extended beyond product. As Warren explained:

“Our mission is to go above and beyond our customers’ expectations… We want you to feel like you’ve won at all times when you made this connection with us.”

Through discipline, relentless work ethic, and an unwavering focus on integrity, She’s Happy Hair grew from trunk-to-salon sales into a multi-million dollar enterprise with five retail locations across Houston and Dallas — partnerships with major retailers including Walmart and Macy’s — and recognition as a leader in the virgin hair industry.

But growth was never just about expansion. It was about responsibility.

As Warren stated in Black Enterprise:

“I feel an obligation to the community: if you do well, you have to do good.”

That belief led to the creation of The She’s Happy Foundation, through which the brand has reinvested into community programs spanning over 13 years — including the beloved Chocolate Santa event that has become a Houston tradition.

Warren’s leadership and commitment to excellence have earned recognition including the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, The Pinnacle Award from the Greater Houston Black Chamber, and numerous other honors celebrating his entrepreneurial impact and community service.

He serves on multiple nonprofit boards including BakerRipley, American Leadership Forum, and the University of Houston Small Business Development Center Advisory Board — continuing to lead with the same values that started it all: service, accountability, and purpose.
